No Ground Evidence of Indian armour deployment or Change at Line of Actual Control by Afshain Afzal

LADAKH, 27 September, 2020, (TON): India Army claims that intends to combat China in the low temperatures, snow warfare at Line of Actual Control (LAC).  Although, armour does not operate on snow but commanders at Indian Army Headquarters at New Delhi are adamant that they have moved T-90 and T-72 Tanks along with BMP infantry vehicles in the Chumar-Demchok area of Eastern Ladakh.

In the past, it was a routine affair that after the first snow fall, which has already taken place on 26 September at Ladakh, the troops are withdrawn, leaving symbolic representation. These winter vacated posts are again redeployed next year at the start of summer. The Indian commanders’ claims that they have military type vehicles which can easily operate at temperatures up to minus 40 degree Celsius.

In a statement to media, Major General Arvind Kapoor, Chief of Staff,14 Corps said, “The Fire and Fury Corps is the only formation of the Indian Army and also in the world to have actually deployed mechanized forces in such harsh terrain”.

The elements of 6 Mountain Division and 9 Mountain Brigade, when approached had no idea of any such deployment or move in the near future.
