India to host virtual meeting of SCO Justice Ministers

BEIJING, 13 October, 2020, (TON): On October 16th the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will hold seventh meeting of Ministers of Justice. Indian Union Minister of Law Shankar Prasad will host the seventh meeting of Justice, Communication and Electronics & Information Technology through video conferencing. Apart from India, law ministers and senior officials from Pakistan, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will be participating in the meeting.

Another meeting of the Experts working group will be hosted by Department of Legal Afffairs on October 13th and 14th, 2020. Anoop Kumar Mendiratta, Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice will host the second meeting.

SCO member states will likely deliberate further on areas of cooperation and will discuss best practices and the novel steps taken for creating favorable conditions to resolve disputes.  Member states are expected to take a look at the implementation of the Action Plan of the Working groups of experts on Legal services and Forensic activities. After the meeting a joint statement will be signed following the results of the Seventh Session of the Ministers of Justice of the SCO member-states.

The Ministers of (Law and ) Justice and senior officials and experts from the Ministries of Law & Justice of India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Russian Federation, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will be taking part in the meeting. The SCO Secretariat will be providing required assistance throughout the deliberations of three days.
