KHARTOUM, 27 October 2020, (TON):   US-brokered Sudan and Israel discussion to boost trade, aviation, agriculture and migration agreements as move towards “normalization deal” is in limbo as masses in Khartoum warned to start agitation.

Meanwhile, Sudan’s Foreign Ministry has stepped back from giving any timeframe for negotiations. Sudanese acting Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has said the deal cannot be signed until the new legislature is elected. Foreign media, however, reported that Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok was talking about implementation, “deal cannot be implemented until ratified by the legislature installed after the 2022 election.” The fact cannot be denied that the existing Sudanese Government has no mandate to strike deal with Israel.

Sudanese youth protesting on the streets said that they will not accept any deal with Israel as it would be stabbing on the back of Palestinians. They rejected any negotiations or deal with Israel and warned that in such a case they will occupy streets throughout the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

The US-backed military officers who jointly rule through an interim authority formed after the 2019 overthrow President Omar al-Bashir have no constitutional authority to deal with the foreign policy shift, statement issued by a responsible officer of Foreign Ministry said.
