British Correspondent Robert Fisk dies at 74

DUBLIN, 2 November 2020, (TON): Top journalist Robert Fisk, was renowned for Middle Eastern affairs and a remained foreign correspondent for the British newspaper ‘The Independent’, died at St Vincent’s hospital in Dublin on Sunday.

Robert Fisk was famous for his courage to ask the hardest question with fear and publishing the same without any abrupt change.

Robert Fisk started his career as Northern Ireland correspondent in 1972 and ten joined The Independent in 1989. He covered top international events including Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Iranian revolution, Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait and the Arab Spring. He was renowned for his reporting on Middle East affairs.

Beside many other awards, he won the Orwell Prize for Journalism and Foreign Reporter of the Year on several occasions. He also interviewed Saudi prince Osama bin Laden.

His books included The Point of No Return: The Strike Which Broke the British in Ulster; The Great War for Civilisation – The Conquest of the Middle East and Pity the Nation: Lebanon at War.
