KABUL June 17, 2026 (TON) : According to UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) , more than 8.8 million children in Afghanistan are exposed to Climate Hazards. Children Climate Risk Report 2026 by UNICEF released on Tuesday states that 41 percent of Afghanistan’s children are exposed to hazards including floods, droughts, heatwaves, extreme heat, and sand and dust storms.

UNICEF Representative in Afghanistan Tajudeen Oyewale , said that Afghani Children are already living on front lines of the climate crisis. So, to secure their future we need to strengthen Climate-resilient systems and services in health, nutrition, water, sanitation, education, child protection and social support.

UNICEF calls for increased investment in climate-resilient services to protect children from the impacts of climate shocks.
