DHAKA, 15 July 2026 (TON): Bangladesh has shifted its disaster response from emergency rescue operations to rehabilitation after devastating floods killed 56 people and affected more than 609,000 families across eight districts, officials said on Tuesday.
Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu said floodwaters have started receding in several affected areas, allowing authorities to focus on restoring normal life. Rehabilitation efforts will include agricultural recovery, infrastructure repairs, healthcare services, and long-term support for affected communities.
The minister also announced that, following the prime minister's instructions, he will begin visiting flood-hit districts from Wednesday, starting with Chittagong, to oversee rehabilitation work and assess conditions on the ground.
