Bangladesh defence adviser to attend BIMSTEC security meeting

DHAKA, 13 July 2026 (TON): Bangladesh's Defence Adviser Brig Gen (Retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam will attend the fifth BIMSTEC National Security Advisers' Meeting in New Delhi later this week, officials said.

The meeting, hosted by India, is scheduled for Thursday and will bring together security advisers from BIMSTEC member countries to discuss regional cooperation and security matters.

Officials said the Indian government has been informed of the visit and requested to provide necessary support for the Bangladesh delegation during the meeting.
