DHAKA, 25 July 2026 (TON): The President of Bangladesh Mohammed Shahabuddin has resigned after citing serious health concerns, according to an official statement released by his office.
The 76-year-old said he had been diagnosed with Autonomic Neuropathy, a condition that occasionally causes him to lose consciousness.
Shahabuddin has served as president since April 2023. His resignation comes during a politically sensitive period following major changes in Bangladesh's leadership after the 2024 student led uprising.
