DHAKA June 29, 2026 (TON): Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she will return to Bangladesh later this year despite facing a death sentence, which she described as unconstitutional and politically driven.
Hasina, who has been living in India since leaving Bangladesh, said in an interview that the verdict against her was unlawful and intended to silence her politically. She accused Bangladesh's judiciary of being used against her and the Awami League, saying she remains committed to restoring democracy, justice, and the rule of law in the country.
