BEIJING, 4 July 2026 (TON): China launched a new coast guard patrol east of Taiwan, saying the operation is intended to safeguard its maritime rights and jurisdiction.
Taiwan strongly rejected the move, calling it a violation of international law and accusing Beijing of attempting to expand its authority in waters outside its legal jurisdiction.
This patrol added to ongoing tensions across the Taiwan Strait as both sides continue to dispute sovereignty and maritime claims.
