BEIJING, 7 July, 2026 (TON): China has successfully tested a long-range strategic missile launched from one of its nuclear-powered submarines in the Pacific Ocean, with reports saying the missile landed accurately within the designated target area.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy described the launch as part of its routine annual training programme. It said relevant countries were notified in advance and stressed that the test complied with international law and was not aimed at any specific country.

Australia and Japan confirmed they had received prior notification of the missile launch but criticized the exercise, saying it reflects China's continued military expansion and growing strategic presence in the region.
