BEIJING, 16 July 2026 (TON): China has called for stronger political commitment from all parties to ensure the continued progress of Colombia's peace process following the country's recent presidential election.
Speaking at a United Nations Security Council briefing on Colombia, Sun Lei, Charge d'Affaires of China's Permanent Mission to the UN, congratulated Colombia on the successful election and expressed support for a smooth government transition.
"China stands ready to work with the Colombian government and all other parties to continue advancing a Colombian-led and Colombian-owned peace process," Sun Lei said, adding that China hopes to contribute to peace, stability, and sustainable development in Colombia.
