NEW DELHI, 30 July 2026 (TON): Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that , India has appointed senior diplomat Ngulkham Jathom Gangte as its next Ambassador to Mexico. Gangte, a 1994-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, is currently serving as Special Secretary in the ministry and is expected to assume his new role soon.

Before this appointment, Gangte served as India's Ambassador to Tunisia with additional responsibility for Libya. He has also been India's High Commissioner to Zambia and has held diplomatic postings in Egypt, Morocco, Ireland and Tanzania. At the MEA headquarters, he has worked in several senior administrative positions.

The appointment is expected to strengthen India's diplomatic and trade relations with Mexico as New Delhi continues to expand its engagement with Latin American countries.
