KATHMANDU, 6 JUNE 2026 (TON): Nepalese Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar held a bilateral meeting in New Delhi, India, this evening.
Foreign Minister Khanal has shared details about the meeting with his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar. During the bilateral meeting, Minister Khanal stated Nepal's new government carries a clear mandate for good governance, economic transformation and result-driven diplomacy. "We carry no old baggage; only a firm resolve to build a genuinely transformative relationship with our close neighbor and most important partner India,” and "Under the new government, we are ready to engage substantively, purposefully and at the highest possible levels."
He added, that New Delhi must withdraw from Nepalese territories it illegally occupied." On the occasion, issues of bilateral trade, investment, connectivity network, energy and people-to-people relations were also discussed.
Foreign Minister Khanal is currently in New Delhi on a three-day official visit at the friendly invitation of his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar.
