COLOMBO, 2 July 2026 (TON):  On Wednesday Sri Lanka announced an end to the state of emergency following devastating Cyclone Ditwah that hit the island nation seven months ago.

Qver 600 people got killed in Cyclone Ditwah which also caused severe flooding, landslides, and widespread destruction across all 25 districts of the Sri Lanka that hit the country in late November 2025.

1.2 million were affected by the cyclone as it displaced hundreds of thousands, and caused major damage to homes, agriculture , Utility stores and government infrastructure.

Government spokesman and minister Nalinda Jayathissa said that the state of emergency declared following Cyclone Ditwah will not be extended.
