COLOMBO, 24 July 2026 (TON): Sri Lanka has requested China's support to improve forest management, develop its bamboo industry, and strengthen environmental protection through closer bilateral cooperation.
Deputy Environment Minister Anton Jayakody made the request during the Forest Resource Management and Green Development workshop in China. He said international cooperation is essential to address environmental challenges and requested support for bamboo development, forest fire management, and forestry training.
Officials believe that this cooperation will support sustainable development and will improve long term forest management in Sri Lanka.
