MANILA June 8, 2026 (TON): On Monday , An earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck Mindanao region in southern Philippines, triggering tsunami warning in Pacific.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) told the quake struck at 7: 37 AM at the depth of about 32 km southwest of Maasim, Sarangani, at depth of 33k.
The Civil Defense says, 15 people are dead and more than 100 are injured.
Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. advised all government agencies to immediately evacuate residents. He told that all residents in affected areas should move to higher ground.
