HANOI, 29 July 2026 (TON): A Vietnamese cargo ship sank near the disputed Spratly Islands in the South China Sea on Tuesday. Authorities confirmed that 48 people have been rescued, while 14 remain missing.

The vessel, Khoi Nguyen 18, went down near Fiery Cross Reef. Rescue efforts involve teams from Vietnam, the Philippines, and China. Vietnamese officials said three more survivors were found but did not release further details.
