KATHMANDU, June 22, 2026 (TON):The Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) has urged Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to ensure that elections for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) are held by July 31, warning that further delays could result in sanctions against the country's cricket administration.

The issue arose after the resignation of former SLC President Shammi Silva and the appointment of an interim management committee by the Sports Ministry. The ICC has reiterated its policy that national cricket boards must operate independently and remain free from political interference.
