Several Dead After Fire Breaks Out in Brussels Construction Site

BRUSSELS, 15 July 2026 (TON): Several people were found dead after a fire broke out at the Oxy Tower, a building under construction in central Brussels, on Tuesday, according to local authorities.

Officials said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, while at least six people were initially reported missing. The blaze spread rapidly through the building, reaching the lift shafts where two elevators became trapped, complicating rescue operations.

Emergency responders said recovery efforts are expected to take several hours due to heavy debris and hazardous conditions. Brussels Mayor Philippe Close thanked firefighters and rescue teams for their efforts in managing the difficult operation.
