ATHENS, 30 July 2026 (TON): Southern Europe continued battling widespread wildfires as three firefighters died in Greece while responding to separate fire emergencies. Large firefighting teams remained deployed across Greece, France and Spain.
Extreme heat, drought and strong winds have fueled the fires, forcing hundreds of thousands of residents and tourists to evacuate affected areas. Authorities warned that the wildfire threat remains high.
Emergency services continue working to contain the blazes as officials monitor weather conditions that could worsen the situation across the region.
