BEIRUT, 12 July 2026 (TON): Tel Aviv has planned to establish ‘pilot zones’ from where it would withdraw. Initially two ‘pilot zones’ will be established.
Military delegations from the United States and Lebanon have met in Beirut to work out how to implement the first phase of a US-brokered framework agreement intended to achieve an Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon. US ambassador Michel Issa confirmed that American delegation would meet President Joseph Aoun to “determine the mechanism” for implementing the deal.
As per the plan the under the framework agreement reached on 26 June 2026, Israel will gradually withdraw from areas of southern Lebanon and Lebanese military will take full control of ‘pilot zones’. However, Israeli forces will remain in a “security zone” 10km deep, till the process of disarming Hezbollah would not complete.
