KABUL, 09 May 2021, (TON): Multiple blasts targeted a school in the Afghan capital in Dasht-i Barchi area of Kabul on Saturday killing at least 30 people and wounding dozens more, mostly students, an Afghan senior Interior ministry official said. He added that that most of the casualties were coming out of the Sayed ul Shuhada school.
The spokesman, Tariq Arian, put the death toll at least 25 and did not specify the cause or the target. However, eyewitnesses say that the deaths occurred due to blast was much higher than official figures.
Hospital authorities said that 46 people had been taken to hospitals.
Kabul is on high alert since Washington announced plans last month to pull out all US troops by 11 September, with Afghan officials saying the Taliban have stepped up attacks across the country. However, locals says it is not Tabiban rather the blame is leveled on Taliban wheres they are usually victims of atrocities and terrorist attacks.
Najiba Arian, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Education claimed that the wounded are mostly female students.
