WASHINGTON, 12 September 2020, TON: The US Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper made a phone call to the Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina on 11th September 2020. He praised Bangladesh for the cooperative policy undertaking in the
Rohingya crisis and assured to continue the US support in solving the Rohingya crisis. Esper promised to
extradite one of the significant criminals of “Bangabandhu Assassination” Rashed Chowdhury resided in
the USA.
The Secretary of Defense ensured their assistance in natural disasters like floods in Bangladesh to
mitigate the damages. Esper expressed the hope for working together in the post-pandemic country
reconstruction of both countries. He thanked PM to support the US in the time of the pandemic. Mark T.
Esper expressed hope that Bangladesh would continue its productive role in peacekeeping missions.
PM Sheikh Hasina discussed with him about the massive COVID19 damages of lives in the USA. She
thanked the Secretary of Defense to their government’s support to Bangladesh in the global pandemic.
She emphasized the extradition of Rashed Chowdhury. PM thanked him for ensuring the cooperation of
the US government on the Rohingya issue. She hopes that the 2020 Election of the US would
