Bangladesh Noakhali clashes: Obaidul Quader of the Awami League warns of stern action

DHAKA, 11 March, 2021 (TON): In a press conference on Wednesday, Awami League-GC Obaidul Quader, has warned to take severe action against the ones behind the killing in the clashes between the rival divisions of the ruling party in Noakhali’s Companyganj.

The minister said, “No one will be spared (for their involvement in this incident).”

His remarks came in response to Tuesday’s incident when clashes erupted between the supporters of Abdul Quader Mirza, mayor of Basurhat municipality, and the followers of former Upazila chairman Mizanur Rahman Badal who were protesting against Monday’s assault on Khizar Hayat Khan, president of the party’s Companyganj Upazila Unit at Rupali Chattar of Basurhat municipality in Companyganj.

An Awami League activist named Md Alauddin died while at least 40 others were injured amid malicious mischief devastation ad blasts.

More than 15 of them suffered bullet injuries.

However, many of the people have been arrested and others are underway and clashes are also being investigated so that necessary steps are taken.
