Bangladesh: Celebrations to take place nationwide - 50th anniversary of independence

Bangladesh is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its independence 17-27 March 2021. The country has already commemorated national holidays to give homage to founder of the nation, Sheik Mujibur Rahman's birthday 17 March and Independence Day 26 March. Government of Bangladesh would hold a 10-day golden jubilee celebration in the Dhaka and other important cities. The main events will occur at Jatiyo Sriti Shoudho (National Martyrs' Monument) in Savar, the National Parade Square, and Bangabandhu Memorial Museum. Smaller ceremonies will likely take place in provincial capitals and district headquarters throughout the country during the period.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Abdul Hamid will host senior leaders from Maldives (17-18 March), Sri Lanka (19-20 March), Nepal (22-24 March , Bhutan (24 March), and India (26-27 March) to join festivities in the capital. Pakistan Embassy Dhaka would also observe celebrations.

Meanwhile, despite the day of national unity, New Delhi has enhanced funding centrifugal groups’ leaders to create disruptions are possible. It is expected that elements from opposition parties and other groups may organize street marches and public rallies, though police and other authorities have asked these groups to delay gatherings during the golden jubilee period. There are reports that Indian Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is funding elements in West Bengal who would be disrupting celebrations in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and other groups are also participating in the celebrations but India media is projecting negative propaganda against them. Although, the Bangladeshi Security forces have been put on high alert and capable to handle the situation but miscreants are reportedly have sneaked into Bangladesh to disrupt the celebrations. The people of Pakistan are equally joyful in the happiness of their Bangla brothers and sisters and pray for their happiness, prosperity and development.
