RIYADH, 19 December 2022, (TON): the Saudi Press Agency reported “Saudi Arabia has condemned a terrorist attack which targeted Iraqi security forces in Kirkuk.”

The Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack that killed nine federal officers.

The ministry of foreign affairs affirmed Saudi Arabia’s rejection of all forms of violence and terrorist activities and reiterated the Kingdom’s support for eliminating terrorism and extremism in all its forms and dismantling its funding, said a statement.

The ministry expressed sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

TIMBUKTU, 18 December 2022, (TON): Two peacekeepers in Mali were killed and four others wounded in an attack on Friday, the UN mission said, in the latest blow to the international operation.

Unidentified assailants opened fire on the police patrol in Timbuktu, according to the UN mission, known as MINUSMA.

MINUSMA statement said “the attack left two Peacekeepers’ dead, including a woman. Four other peacekeepers were injured, one of them seriously.”

Statement said “they are currently receiving appropriate care at the MINUSMA military hospital in Timbuktu.”

AMMAN, 18 December 2022, (TON): The country’s security agency said “Jordan has arrested dozens of people accused of involvement in protests against rising fuel prices in which a senior police officer was gunned down.”

Col. Abdul Razzaq Dalabeh, the deputy police chief of Maan province, died of a gunshot to the head in the town of Al-Husseiniya while confronting what the authorities called riots.

Public Security Directorate said in a statement “forty-four people who participated in the riots in a number of regions in the kingdom have been arrested and they will be brought before courts.”

It said reinforcements had been sent to the provinces, and accused “vandals and outlaws” of being behind violence in Maan, in the country’s south.

BERLIN, 18 December 2022, (TON): A U.S. company that helped build a huge aquarium in Berlin says it is sending a team to investigate the rupture of the tank, which sent a wave of debris, water and tropical fish crashing through the hotel lobby it was located in and onto the street outside.

Reynolds Polymer Technology, which says it manufactured and installed the cylinder component of the AquaDom tank 20 years ago, said in an emailed statement that “at this point, it is too early to determine he factor or factors that would produce such a failure.”

Biogas is a renewable energy source that uses gases produced from raw materials including agricultural and municipal waste. It is already used in hundreds of places around the world.

Karima Hussein, an official at the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, told media “after the end of the climate summit held in Sharm El-Sheikh in November, the state took up the waste-disposal issue, which is closely related to climate change.”

After many successful experiments, implementation was proposed by the ministry.

RIYADH, 18 December 2022, (TON): Saudi Press Agency reported early “Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman congratulated Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins after a new government was approved by lawmakers this week.”

The king and crown prince sent cables to the prime minister, wishing success and prosperity for Latvia and its people.

A majority in Latvia’s parliament on Wednesday voted to confirm the country’s proposed coalition government, allowing Karins to stay in power following his win in the October general election.

MOSCOW, 17 December 2022, (TON): Ukrainian officials said “Russia fired more than 70 missiles at Ukraine on Friday in one of its biggest attacks since the start of the war, knocking out power in the second-biggest city and forcing Kyiv to bring in emergency blackouts nationwide.”

Two people were killed when an apartment block was hit in central Kryvyi Rih and another died in shelling in Kherson in the south, they said. Russian-installed officials in occupied eastern Ukraine said 12 people had died in Ukrainian shelling.

Kyiv warned late that Moscow planned a new all-out offensive early next year, around a year after its February 24 invasion, which has destroyed huge areas of Ukraine but brought little of it under Moscow’s control.

NEW DELHI, 17 December 2022, (TON): India has test-fired a long-range nuclear-capable ballistic missile, local media reported a development said to be a pre-scheduled exercise that gains significance against the backdrop of a recent clash between Indian and Chinese troops at the disputed Himalayan border.

According to Indian news website The Quint, the surface-to-surface missile, Agni-5, was developed indigenously, and it has a strike range of 5,000 kilometres.

The missile was launched from the Integrated Test Range at Abdul Kalam Island in the eastern Indian state of Odisha’s Bhadrak district, the report said, citing defence ministry source.
