TRIPOLI, 20 September 2020, (TON): In a new development, representative of Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) confirmed having meetings between the Tripoli government led by Prime Minister Fayez Siraj and the Tobruk-based parliament’s speaker Aguila Saleh at Bouznika, Rabat, where attempt was made to discuss ways to put an end to the Libyan crisis.
Prime Minister of Libya's UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) Farrej al-Sarraj stepped down on Wednesday, leaving a big gap that may lead to further worsen security situation.
After five years of rule, head of the Tripoli-based GNA, Fayez al-Sarraj said in a short televised address that he has planned to leave office before the end of October to make room for his replacement. This announcement was much expected and all the countries of the world especially the Western nations had pushed Fayez al-Sarraj to the wall. Despite having mandate from the United Nations and recognization, talks were intentionally organized with rebels to come to the terms. Morse despite ceasefire, the stakeholders continued to supply arms and ammunitions to the rebels to bombard Tripoli.
The commander loyal to Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj said that it was the result of pressure from international actors, who even did not allow Turkish Forces to bring peace. He added that Washington is also playing double role in secretly extending military advisory and weaponries to the rebel forces.
If we recall, the same player dragged Libya to chaos by eliminating Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. Presently, since GNA has gained the superiority forces US Citizen Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA) due to assistance of Turkish military support but Western nations were not interested in peace and they desire Libya to continue to bleed.
