BANGKOK, 21 September 2020, (TON): More than 50, 000 people have taken to the streets in Thailand this weekend, calling for a new constitution and changes to the country's monarchy.
Anti-government protesters in Thailand have submitted a list of their demands, including reform of the monarchy. They announced that they will continue protests today, on Monday.
Demonstrators holding the 10-point list marched to the Privy Council Chambers in Bangkok on Sunday morning. They are calling for the elimination of a constitutional clause that bans criticism of King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
Police blocked the demonstrators from entering the chambers but protesters kept occupying a square outside the Grand Palace overnight. They installed a plaque in the square that says the state belongs to the people, not to the royal family. The demonstrators have threatened that they will continue to hold rallies until their demands are met.
