Tajikistan ratifies agreement with Russia on creation of unified air defense system

DUSHANBE, 09 December 2021, (TON): The press service of the parliament said “deputies of the lower house of parliament of Tajikistan have ratified an agreement with Russia on the creation of the United Regional Air Defense System. The draft document was presented to the deputies by the Minister of Defense of the republic Sherali Mirzo.”

According to her “the meeting considered and approved the Agreement be-tween Tajikistan and the Russian Federation of April 27, 2021 on the creation of the United Regional Air Defense System.”

Presenting the draft agreement, Mirzo noted that the document “meets the interests of both parties to ensure the safety of the airspace.” He also pointed to the growing threats in the region, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by terrorist and extremist organizations.

According to the document, the parties are creating an air defense system, which will become an integral part of the joint air defense system of the CIS member states.
