ANKARA, 15 March, 2021 (TON): On Monday, Turkey’s Defense ministry and monitoring group confirmed that the missile attack in Turkish-controlled northern Syria wounded several civilians.
From the Kuweires airbase in Aleppo, the ballistic missiles were fired that struck Al-Bab and Jarablus towns in the north of the war-torn country.
The ministry said in a tweet, “The strike targeted civilian settlements and fuel tankers, civilians were wounded."
The tweet was accompanied by a video appearing to show several Lorries on fire.
“Our sources on the ground heard loud explosions near Jarablus "caused by rocket attacks of unknown origin," the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
Several civilians and workers had been wounded, it added.
As the attacks in these facilities have been on repeat in recent months, however, neither Damascus nor Moscow that have troops in Syria claim the attacks.
Reports state that Ankara had contacted Russian troops to demand a halt to the firing and its troops in the region had been alerted.
