The message from Xi came days after North Korea fired an intercontinental ballistic missile in one of its most powerful tests yet, declaring it would meet perceived US nuclear threats with nukes of its own.
North Korea has conducted a record-breaking blitz of missile launches in recent weeks and fears have grown that it is building up to a seventh nuclear test, its first since 2017.
RIYADH, 28 November 2022, (TON): Under the sponsorship of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Monetary Fund has signed a $1 billion agreement with the Yemeni government to revitalize its flagging economy.
The deal, signed in Riyadh, seeks to establish a comprehensive economic, financial and monetary reform program to improve governance and transparency, expand and diversify production and lower unemployment and poverty.
Saudi Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan said that the program will develop Yemen’s financial and banking sector, strengthen the role of the private sector and promote long-term economic development.
ROME, 28 November 2022, (TON): The interior minister said "around a dozen people were missing on Saturday after heavy rains caused a landslide on the Italian island of Ischia, but denied earlier reports that eight people were killed."
Media reports and emergency services said "a wave of mud and debris swept down the hill in the small town of Casamicciola Terme in the early hours of the morning, engulfing at least one house and sweeping cars down to the sea."
Infrastructure minister and deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini was reported as saying that eight people had been confirmed dead, but his cabinet colleague later denied this.
RIYADH, 28 November 2022, (TON): Saudi Press Agency reported "Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud held talks with his Egyptian counterpart Mahmoud Tawfiq in Riyadh."
They discussed ways to improve security cooperation between their ministries. The talks also saw the signing of a cooperation agreement to combat crime.

DHAKA, 28 November 2022, (TON): Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said it was Dhaka's decision, not Tokyo's to postpone Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's scheduled Japan visit due to several reasons.
He told journalists “we did (postpone the trip) it, not them Japan is ready to welcome us but considering different factors we thought it would be very difficult."
The foreign minister said Japan is one of the closest friends of Bangladesh and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will surely visit Tokyo soon.

CAIRO, 28 November 2022, (TON): Egyptian army said "an Egyptian fighter plane crashed on Sunday while training."
Gharib Abdel-Hafez, a military spokesman, said "the crew survived and that no damage was caused on the ground."
He did not identify the location of the crash, which he said was caused by a technical malfunction."
The spokesman added "another technical malfunction caused a fighter plane to crash during training in June."
JUBA, 28 November 2022, (TON): UN has said in a report "some 9.4 million people in South Sudan will need humanitarian assistance and protection services next year, half a million more than the current number."
According to the 2023 South Sudan Humanitarian Needs Overview report, more people will face food insecurity in 2023. Currently, nearly a third of 12.4 million people living in South Sudan are facing severe food insecurity.
The report said "Humanitarian conditions have been worsened by endemic violence, conflict, access constraints, operational interference, public health challenges and climate change effects such as flooding and drought."
MOSCOW, 28 November 2022, (TON): A Russian court extended by six months the detention of opposition politician Ilya Yashin, who risks being jailed 10 years for denouncing President Vladimir Putin’s assault on Ukraine.
The 39-year-old Moscow city councillor is in the dock as part of an unprecedented crackdown on dissent in Russia, with most opposition activists either in jail or in exile.
He faces up to 10 years behind bars, if convicted.
